SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — US Navy security and local law enforcement were investigating a “security threat” at Naval Medical Center San Diego Thursday.

In a social media post at 11:16 a.m., Naval Base San Diego described the incident as a “verbal” threat, also stating that authorities are actively seeking a person of interest in connection to the alleged threat.

No suspect description was immediately provided.

Navy officials told FOX 5/KUSI that this was not a lockdown situation; however, the child development center was under a temporary shelter-in-place as a precaution.

The base was reported to be functioning as normal with no extra security other than the security process that is active daily.

Navy officials said they are still looking for the suspect, though no actual danger is present.
