San Diego Fire-Rescue said it quickly stopped the spread of a new 3/4-acre brush fire in the Torrey Pines area near the location of the 19-acre blaze on Tuesday that led to brief evacuations.

The new fire was reported at 1:21 p.m. off the 2600 block of Boca Raton Street near Calais Drive, west of Interstate 5.

Fire-Rescue quickly assigned five engines, three brush rigs, three helicopters and 54 personnel. Units from the city of Poway also assisted.

At 2:12 p.m. the agency tweeted, “Forward spread of this brush fire has been halted. It burned about 3/4 of an acre before firefighters were able to stop it from spreading.

“Crews will remain on scene for mop-up for about an hour. No structures were damaged and no injuries have been reported.”

The location of the new brush fire is at the eastern edge of the Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve Extension.
