EXCLUSIVE: Prime Video is planning another big splash for its hit series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power at San Diego Comic-Con.

This year at SDCC, ahead of the series’ Season 2 premiere on August 29 , the streamer will host an exclusive press and influencer reception by invitation only on Thursday, July 25, in San Diego. It will be followed by The Rings of Power panel in Hall H on Friday from 11:05 a.m.-12:15 p.m. featuring the series’ showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay as well as cast giving fans a inside look at Season 2 in Middle-earth.

Afterward, at 1:45 p.m. at Venue 808 in San Diego, a fan meet-and-greet with cast will be held in conjunction with the official Lord of the Rings fan site TORn (TheOneRing.net). On display will be a curated collection of Season 2’s costumes and props.

Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power blew the roof off SDCC two years ago with a cast and creator dinner the night before its Hall H panel, as well as showcasing a full blast of the musical score to fans at the session with composer Bear McCreary conducting a full blazing choir and orchestra. It was the first time fans were introduced to the Season 1 characters and the actors who played them, and Prime Video also opened up the wrap-around screens in Hall H (originally installed by Warner Bros years prior).

In Season 2 of The Rings of Power , Sauron has returned. Cast out by Galadriel, without army or ally, the rising Dark Lord must now rely on his own cunning to rebuild his strength and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power, which will allow him to bind all the peoples of Middle-earth to his sinister will. Elves and dwarves, orcs and men, wizards and Harfoots … as friendships are strained and kingdoms begin to fracture, the forces of good will struggle ever more valiantly to hold on to what matters to them most of all … each other.

As previously announced, Season 2 will introduce a beloved character from the J.R.R. Tolkien novel, Tom Bombadil (played by Rory Kinnear). In the novel, Bombadil saves Frodo and the other hobbits from myriad perils. In Season 2, Bombadil encounters the Stranger (Daniel Weyman) and his Harfoot friends Nori (Markella Kavenagh) and Poppy (Megan Richards) on their journey to eastern Middle-earth.
