Crews Busy with Multiple Fires in San Diego County

Fire crews in San Diego County are working to contain two brushfires that broke out in the heat of Monday afternoon.

The #McCainFire is burning in the Boulevard area with evacuations ordered for these areas . Currently the acreage is more than 700 with a moderate rate of spread. The fire broke out at McCain Valley Road and Interstate 8 about 4:30pm. According to initial reports from Cal Fire, there was a vehicle fully involved with extension into the vegetation.

The U.S. Forest Service with assistance from Cal Fire is working a fire near Kitchen Creed Road in the community of Lake Morena. The #KitchenFire is at about 43 acres. Crews have reportedly made good progress on both flanks according to officials with the Cleveland National Forest.

Crews made quick work of a fire earlier in the afternoon on San Miguel Rd. in the Bonita area. The #BonitaFire was stopped at 7 acres.
