A woman in San Dimas, California , was charged with killing one person and injuring another with a samurai-style katana.

Weichien Huang was arrested on July 18 and charged with the murder of her wife, Fei Chen Chen, and the attempted murder of her mother-in-law, according to KTLA .

Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon released a statement, calling the attack an "insidious" example of "domestic violence that affects many throughout our country."

"We are deeply saddened by this horrific violence and our hearts go out to the victims’ loved ones and community," Gascon said.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies went to the 300 block of South Huntington Avenue, where they found a woman walking down the street with a katana and bloody hands, according to the report.

The woman then led the deputies to a nearby home, where police found one dead body and an elderly woman with severe injuries, according to the report.

Police said that investigating the circumstances of the attack was difficult because those involved spoke mostly in Mandarin, but they said Huang will appear in court and could face life in prison, according to the report. Prosecutors have said they intend to ask for $3 million bail.
