Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department are seeking information to solve the December 2022 murder of a mother of two whose burning body was found in Bakersfield.

At about 4:58 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022, 27-year-old Karla Terron’s burning body was found dead on southbound State Route 99 at the Hosking Road off-ramp in Bakersfield, more than 110 miles away from where she was last seen.

Although Tarron’s body had been burned, an autopsy determined that her cause of death was due to multiple stab wounds, according to investigators.

“We hope people will have the courage to come forward and help investigators identify the information they are looking for,” said LASD Lt. Michael Modica during a press conference Thursday. “This information will help make this an even stronger case.”

A mother of two, Tarron’s last known location alive was 110 miles away at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post at 11 N Hagar Street in the city of San Fernando near the restaurant where she worked as a waitress, according to Modica.

From there, Tarron went to a home in San Fernando with some “acquaintances,” where Detectives believe she was killed.

Detectives believe Karla was transported from San Fernando to Bakersfield in a white 2021 Honda CRV. The vehicle was later impounded and examined by investigators.

“Detectives were able to identify DNA evidence that Karla’s body had been in the rear cargo area of that vehicle,” Modica said.

Detectives are seeking any witnesses who may have seen the vehicle late at night on Dec. 16, 2022, or early the next day near Hagar Street or Kox Street in San Fernando or near Hosking Avenue in Bakersfield, where her body was found.

Modica also said that detectives had received second and third-hand information that witnesses heard gunshots near Knox Street around the time Terron is believed to have been killed. Now, they are looking for anyone else who heard gunshots in that area the night of Dec. 16, 2022, or during the early morning hours the next day.

In addition, Tarron’s phone has never been discovered, according to Modica.

This story is being shared in Santa Clarita due to the fact that the 5 Freeway is the most direct route between Tarron’s last confirmed sighting while alive in San Fernando and the site where her burning body was discovered in Bakersfield.

“It’s small pieces of a big puzzle, and we got a majority of those pieces together,” Modica said. “This is going to help us put those smaller pieces in place.”
