Jorge Soler hurt in rehab at-bat after foul ball hits batting cage, then head

Wear your helmets, kids. The Giants injury list has grown exceedingly long over the last week, with the likes of Michael Conforto, Tom Murphy, Nick Ahmed, Jung Hoo Lee and Jorge Soler all dealing with injuries.

Soler, who has been dealing with a right shoulder strain, took some practice swings Tuesday afternoon for the first time since the injury on May 4, as he worked to get back in the lineup.

What occurred was a literal scene out of Rookie of the Year . Soler, not wearing a helmet, fouled a ball directly up, off the cage, and back on his own head. The footage can be found here, from NBC Sports Bay Area.

The ball takes more of a glancing blow off his head then a direct, top-of-the-head impact, but Soler walked off the field with a trainer. Here is The Athletic's Andrew Baggarly's assessment of the situation.
