Proposed trade sends Caris LeVert to the Warriors

Andrew Wiggins continues to be floated as a potential trade chip for the Golden State Warriors. He has been underwhelming for the past two seasons, and could potentially benefit from a change of scenery. As such, his name is being consistently used in mock trade proposals, to give Warriors fans an idea on the potential return a trade could yield.

In the latest mock trade from Bleacher Report’s Grant Hughes, Caris LeVert is the talent heading back to the Bay Area in return for Wiggins. Of course, the Cleveland Cavaliers would also part with some draft capital to get the deal over the line.

“It took a decade, but Andrew Wiggins could finally get to play for the team that drafted him,” Hughes wrote, reasoning why the Cavaliers would make the trade. “This full-circle deal makes sense for the Cavs whether they extend Donovan Mitchell or not. And it looks even better if, somewhat improbably, all four of Mitchell, Darius Garland, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen are still on the team through the summer.”

Cleveland originally drafted Wiggins with the first overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft before immediately trading him to the Minnesota Timberwolves as part of the Kevin Love trade.

LeVert would give the Warriors another ball-handler and three-level scorer. He would also thrive in Steve Kerr’s motion-based offense. However, Golden State will likely feel they can get a better return for Wiggins, making this mock trade unlikely to come to fruition.
