Before releasing guard point Chris Paul on Sunday, the Warriors rejected a trade that would have sent him to Chicago.

Bleacher Report's Chris Haynes reported that the Bulls pursued a trade involving guard guard Zach LaVine with Golden State's Andrew Wiggins also included.

"The Warriors, they didn't feel that was an adequate amount for a deal structure," Haynes said.

Instead, Golden State waived the 12-time All-Star, who had a deadline Sunday for a $30 million salary guarantee if he was still on the Warriors roster.

We should soon find out if the front office's decision to let him walk for nothing was the right one.

While LaVine's stock has arguably never been lower, Golden State might have minimal avenues to improve its roster this offseason.

The Warriors parted with longtime guard Klay Thompson, and despite an interest in free-agent Paul George, other suitors might have a better shot at signing him.

Golden State is coming off a 46-36 season. It lost to the Kings in the play-in tournament, failing to qualify for the postseason for the third time in the past five seasons.

In his lone season with the Warriors, Paul, 39, averaged career-lows in points (9.2) and minutes (26.4) per game.
