Warriors Make Major Klay Thompson Announcement Amid Mavericks Signing

Shooting guard Klay Thompson signed a three-year, $50 million deal to join Luka Doncic and the Mavericks this week, which marked the end of the road for one of the most famous duos in NBA history, Thompson and Stephen Curry's 'Splash Brothers.'

The Thompson/Curry duo won four NBA titles together and became known as the best 1-2 outside shooting punch the league has ever seen during the time with Coach Steve Kerr's Warriors.

On Monday evening, the Warriors made a big announcement that should offer solace to grieving Klay Thompson fans across the country.

According to ESPN host Malika Andrews, the Warriors are planning to retire Thompson's famous number 11 jersey and have a plan for doing so in the coming months and/or years.

"We look forward to the day we can retire his #11 jersey at Chase Center, where he will join a host of Warriors immortals," a statement from the Warriors' organization read.

"We thank Klay for his contributions and wish him the best as another chapter in his journey is written."

Last season Thompson ended the year mired in frustration as his Warriors lost a season-ending Play-In Tournament game on the road to the Sacramento Kings, a game in which Thompson went scoreless.

Thompson holds NBA records for most points scored in a quarter with 37 and most three-point field goals made in a game with 14.
