Draymond Green Speaks Out For First Time After Klay Thompson's Warriors Exit

The Golden State Warriors' dynasty is officially over. Klay Thompson is moving on to the Dallas Mavericks and leaving Draymond Green and Steph Curry to pick up the broken pieces of a franchise that won four NBA championships in the last 10 years.

Curry reacted in a social media post after it was announced that Thompson had agreed to a three-year, $50 million deal with the Mavericks.

Green waited until an episode of "The Draymond Green Show," via Volume Sports, to open up on his feelings regarding Thompson leaving the Warriors.

"When Klay told me, I was just able to listen," said Green. "It wasn't like a, 'Yo, we could finish like this.' Or like, 'You should rethink this.' It was just like, 'Wow, alright. Congrats bro, I'm happy for you. That's dope.'

He added, "You know, to obviously reassure, that changes nothing for us. It changes the basketball court, obviously. But the relationships, they are what they are. They are forever. I think I might have dropped a couple of tears."

Green, Thompson and Curry were all drafted by the Warriors. They weren't a super team that was forged on the fly with the intent to stack the odds against the rest of the league and hunt for championships.

They were homegrown talent drafted and developed into a legitimate big-three that lasted more than a decade.

Not having Thompson on the court will be a major adjustment for Green and company, but there will also be an adjustment off the court.

All of the traveling together, hotel stays, hanging out and mingling with each other's family significantly decreases, if it's not completely cut out entirely. Sure, the relationships are what they are, just like Green said.

But reality is what it is, too. And Green's new reality is Thompson is no longer his teammate.

He's the opponent now.
