Jets Named Surprising Landing Spot For This Star Playmaker

As we get ready for training camp in the NFL, the New York Jets were recently named as a surprise potential landing spot for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.

With the summer break upon us before NFL teams head in for training camp, there has been a lot of speculation surrounding what the 49ers might do with Aiyuk.

While Aiyuk is under contract with San Francisco, he is seeking a new deal, and the 49ers seem more likely to trade him than to give him an extension.

Even though the Niners are title contenders and are a better team with Aiyuk, they might decide to move on before the season to avoid more drama and headaches.

Recently, the The 33rd Team spoke about potential spots for Aiyuk in a trade. Surprisingly, the Jets made their list.

Of all the teams mentioned, this one is probably the most unrealistic. But it does make sense, as the New York Jets are all in for the 2024 season. With Aaron Rodgers turning 41 this season and in the final year of his deal, the Jets must make their run in 2024. If they don’t, Rodgers, Robert Saleh, and Joe Douglas will all be gone in 2025.

Could the Jets make a big move for Brandon Aiyuk?

The Jets certainly feel like a team that should be all-in on the 2024 season.

Aaron Rodgers isn’t getting any younger and this could very well be his last season in the NFL. Also, the coaching staff and front office has to have a ton of pressure on them to win this season, as the Jets are in the midst of one of the longest playoff droughts in professional sports.

This offseason, the Jets did address the wide receiver position by signing Mike Williams and drafting Malachi Corley, but the possibility of them bringing in another wide receiver is certainly there.

If New York elected to pursue Aiyuk, it would likely cost the team a fair amount of draft capital, which could be risky for a squad that could need to address the quarterback position once again after next season.

While it seems unlikely that Aiyuk will be traded to the Jets, if the team ends up feeling like he is the missing piece between them and a Super Bowl, they will have to pull the trigger.

The situation between Aiyuk and the 49ers will certainly be one to watch as the summer progresses.
