Warriors Owner Reveals Text Message To Klay Thompson After Trade

After Klay Thompson was traded to the Dallas Mavericks, some fans wondered about his relationship with the Golden State Warriors. Has the relationship between him and the team really become toxic?

However, it's become increasingly clear that both sides have nothing but love for each other. For instance, Warriors owner Joe Lacob talked about the message he sent to Thompson after the trade in an interview with The Athletic.

"I sent him that little video of me bowing to him... it was just my way of saying he meant so much to us, and so much to this organization, and everything we’ve accomplished as a group, and that I still feel that way about him,” Lacob said.

Klay Thompson was an integral part of all four of the Warriors' championships. However, after failing to agree on a new contract, it made sense for them to move on from each other.  Thompson signed a three-year, $50 million deal with the Mavericks as part of a sign-and-trade deal.

Lacob also quipped that while Thompson's now with the Mavericks, he and the Warriors will have to teach them a harsh lesson.

"And he’s just gonna, you know, be in Dallas for a few years and we’ll have to kick his a**. But that’s just the job and I’m sure he feels the same way,” Lacob joked.
