Warriors Owner Finally Answers Fans' Biggest Stephen Curry Question

Golden State Warriors fans have long wondered why the team doesn't just go all-in for Stephen Curry. Team owner Joe Lacob finally addressed why.

Warriors fans know that the 36-year-old Curry is already at the tail end of his career. While the two-time MVP remains extremely effective on the court, there's no telling when the wheels will ultimately fall off.

The Warriors' current Curry situation has led to some confusion among a handful Warriors fans. Why doesn't Golden State just exhaust their assets to acquire more win-now talent before Curry's play inevitably declines?

Lacob addressed that elephant in the room during his Tuesday appearance on the "Hoops, Adjacent" podcast.

Lacob explained to hosts David Aldridge and Marcus Thompson that the team remains constantly looking to improve. But he added that it would be foolish to "bankrupt" the team's future on a blockbuster move just for a temporary boost.

"The caveat is you can't bankrupt the team in an unbelievably dumb way for a decade," said Lacob. "You can't bankrupt the entire team's future to go for one year. ... Within reason, we're going to always trying to do everything to win."

According to Lacob, there's no guarantee that trading the Warriors' emerging players for a star would make the team better. He added that the team makes use of "analytical models" to determine player value, which factors into the team's decision-making. The same young players could turn into stars too, Lacob asserted.

"People can repeat these 'sayings' all they want ... We're trying to do it, guys. We really are," Lacob said.

The Warriors have seemingly tried to strike a balance between young players and veterans for years now. Golden State previously looked like they had future foundational pieces in Jordan Poole and James Wiseman. Instead, both of those players were traded for not much in return.

Golden State has reportedly been in trade talks to acquire All-Star forward Lauri Markkanen . But based on Lacob's comments, the Warriors may not be willing to break the bank to acquire the big Finn.
