Bills Named Top Trade Destination For 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has requested a trade, and the Buffalo Bills have already been mentioned as a potential landing spot for the star pass-catcher.

ESPN’s Dan Graziano has named the Bills as one of the top destinations for Aiyuk in the event of a trade, which certainly makes sense considering Buffalo parted ways with both Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis earlier this offseason.

The Bills lost a plethora of key pieces over the last several months due to financial constraints. Except in the case of Diggs, who Buffalo traded for other reasons.

Josh Allen is in dire need of weapons in the aerial attack. The Bills did sign Curtis Samuel, and they took Keon Coleman in the second round of the NFL Draft, but they don’t have a proven No. 1 receiver on their roster.

Of course, the 49ers are under no obligation to honor Aiyuk’s request. While the two sides have been unable to reach a long-term agreement, Aiyuk is still under contract for one more year.

The 49ers will probably hold on to Brandon Aiyuk

San Francisco is trying to win a Super Bowl, so it really wouldn’t be wise for it to jettison Aiyuk unless the team felt he could potentially cause issues in the locker room.

Plus, the Niners have been through this before. During the summer of 2022, fellow wide out Deebo Samuel asked to be dealt, but the 49ers ultimately signed him to a contract extension.

That doesn’t necessarily mean San Francisco will reach an extension agreement with Aiyuk, but the Niners may feel more comfortable playing out the 2024 campaign with Aiyuk, attempting to win a championship and then revisiting the situation next March.

Aiyuk is coming off of a terrific 2023 season in which he hauled in 75 receptions for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns. He didn’t make the Pro Bowl, but he did earn a Second-Team All-Pro selection.

The 26-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Arizona State, was selected by the 49ers with the 25th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft.

After a couple of solid years to begin his career, Aiyuk broke out in 2022, catching 78 passes for 1,015 yards and eight scores.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington Commanders have been commonly considered the two most likely destinations for Brandon Aiyuk in the event of a trade, but it would certainly be interesting if the Bills entered the potential sweepstakes.
