    Kelley Guest, 76, was last seen on Monday exiting the Golden Gate Ferry in Sausalito, police said.

    He was found by a search and rescue team from the Marin County Sheriff's Office that had joined the effort to find Guest on Saturday, police said.

    Guest was described by police as an avid hiker who was known to hike in and around the southern portion of the Marin Headlands and surrounding areas.

    A man was shot to death Saturday in the Niles area of Fremont, police said.

    Multiple 911 callers reported the shooting about 1:25 p.m. in the area of Blaisdell Way and Nichols Avenue, police said.

    The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

    A 14-year-old was taken into custody after a pride flag was torn down at CoastPride Center in downtown Half Moon Bay, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office said Saturday.

    Deputies located and apprehended a Half Moon Bay juvenile near the LGBTQ center Friday night. The youth was given a citation and was released to their parents, the sheriff's office said.

    The vandalism is being investigated as a potential hate crime and marks the third occurrence of such a crime at the center in a year, sheriff's deputies said.

    A man was found shot and a woman was stabbed in the South of Market neighborhood, San Francisco police said Saturday.

    The incident was reported about 2:30 p.m. Friday in the first block of 6th Street, which is near Market Street, police said.

    Upon arrival, officers located a woman with stab wounds and a man with gunshot wounds.The man was pronounced dead from his injuries at a local hospital.

    A 52-year-old man died Saturday after a single-car collision near the Jackson Triangle in Hayward, police said.

    The victim's vehicle was traveling east on Jackson Street about 1:40 p.m. Friday when it veered off the road east of Diadon Drive and struck a cement pillar, police said.

    The driver suffered major injuries and was taken to a local hospital where he died on Saturday, police said.

    It was Hayward's sixth fatal collision of 2024, police said.

    A package with thousands of pills containing fentanyl and other illegal drugs was intercepted on its way from the United Kingdom to Novato, the Marin County Sheriff's Office said Saturday.

    The package was headed off this month by the Department of Homeland Security and deputies obtained a search warrant for the destination, the sheriff's office said in a Facebook posting.

    Two people were arrested after the search turned up over 9,400 pills, most suspected to be counterfeit fentanyl, along with suspected cocaine, ketamine, amphetamines, heroin and other substances, the sheriff's office said.

    Counterfeit pills are often made to resemble prescription medications such as oxycodone or benzodiazepines, but really contain fentanyl, the sheriff's office said.

    A police dog found 70 pounds of suspected methamphetamine with a street value of $250,000 when a motorist was pulled over for tailgating, the California Highway Patrol said Saturday.

    Champ, a 6-year-old German shepherd, and his handler were on patrol about 4 p.m. on July 12 on state Highway 29 in Napa County when a vehicle was seen following another too closely, the highway patrol said in a Facebook post.

    During a traffic stop, Champ alerted his handler to the presence of controlled substances, the CHP said. The meth cache was discovered in a search of the vehicle.

    The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety issued an advisory Saturday warning against a telephone scam with a caller posing as Deputy Chief Aaron Johnson.

    "Someone is posing as our Deputy Chief Johnson and asking people for their bank and personal information in relation to a federal investigation," the department said in a press release. "THIS IS NOT REAL."

    The department cautioned members of the public not to give out banking or personal information to anyone claiming to be a member of Rohnert Park DPS.

    A Monterey County jury found a man guilty of raping an unconscious woman, prosecutors said Friday.

    The jury took less than 45 minutes to convict Angel Jeronimo Merino, 27, of raping the woman at the home of her boyfriend in Seaside in 2023, prosecutors said.

    The president of the Richmond police union has been appointed to the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training by Gov. Gavin Newsom.

    Benjamin Therriault, a sergeant in the Richmond Police Department, was named Friday to the panel, which sets minimum selection and training standards for California law enforcement. The position requires California Senate confirmation.

    Therriault was promoted in 2023 after serving as a police officer in Richmond since 2009, according to the governor's office. He was a military police officer in the U.S. Air Force from 2001 to 2007. Therriault is vice president of the Peace Officers Research Association of California and a member of the Martinez Civil Service Commission and Martinez Refinery Oversight Commission.

    San Jose homeowners can now sell their accessory dwelling units as separate property.

    This week the city became the first in the state to opt into a new law that allows ADUs and the land underneath them to be sold as their own lot.

    ADUs have been targeted as one way to ease the housing crisis in California by lawmakers in a series of laws that made changes such as easing construction and conversion requirements and speeding up the permit process. The latest law, AB 1033, allows homeowners to split their lot and sell an ADU as a condo if local jurisdictions opt in.

    The National Weather Service forecast for the greater San Francisco Bay Area for Sunday calls for sunny weather with potential flooding in coastal areas.

    Daytime highs will be mostly in the 60s and 70s in the Bay Area. Overnight lows will be in the 50s on the coast, around the bay, and inland.

    A coastal flood advisory will remain in effect until Monday night. Another excessive heat warning will go into effect on Monday morning for inland areas, according to the NWS.
