Giants sign veteran Greg Van Roten to bolster offensive line

Constantly tinkering with their offensive line, the Giants on Tuesday signed Greg Van Roten, a veteran guard who has recent and extensive starting experience.

Van Roten, 34, started all 17 games at right guard last season for the Raiders, meaning this is a reunion for Van Roten and Carmen Bricillo, who was the offensive line coach in Las Vegas in 2023 and was hired this season by Brian Daboll as the Giants O-line coach — their fifth in the last five years.

Another former starter for the Raiders, Jermaine Eluemunor, will start this season for the Giants, either at right tackle or one of the guard spots.

It is uncertain where Van Roten fits but he offers experience and interior versatility on the line.

New addition Jon Runyan Jr. is starting at right guard in training camp, with another veteran addition, Aaron Stinnie, lining up at left guard.

Van Roten was undrafted in 2012 out of Penn and signed with the Packers. He played for the Jets in 2020 and 2021. The Long Island native went to Chaminade High School in Mineola.

Van Roten, who also played for the Bills, Jets, Panthers and Packers in his career, has started 71 of his 110 career games.

To make room on the roster, the Giants released cornerback Aaron Robinson, the oft-injured 2021 third round pick.
