The New England Patriots entered this offseason with a clear need for wide receiver talent to surround their quarterback with as many weapons as possible.

While they did add a veteran free agent in K.J. Osborn and a number of rookies including second-round pick Ja'Lynn Polk and fourth-round pick Javon Baker. However, they're still lacking that top wideout that opposing defensive coordinators and cornerbacks have to worry about.

In recent months, the Patriots have been involved in discussions with the San Francisco 49ers about Brandon Aiyuk. Now, NBC Sports' Matt Maiocco has reported that the two teams have agreed on a framework for a trade. The same is also true about San Francisco and the Cleveland Browns. Aiyuk is now able to choose his landing spot.

Maiocco also said that the Patriots are expected to include Kendrick Bourne, who is recovering from a torn ACL, in the deal.

Not only would New England have to send a combination of player and picks, but they'd have to give Aiyuk a new deal that the 49ers have been unwilling to give him.

In 62 career games, Aiyuk has caught 269 passes for 3,931 yards and 25 touchdowns. That type of production would really help rookie Drake Maye find himself in the league when he takes over as the starter.
