The City of San Jose is extending the hours of three cooling centers through Wednesday in response to the ongoing heat wave, city officials said.

Three city-operated sites will be open longer than regular business hours to serve as cooling centers while the Excessive Heat Warning issued by the National Weather Service is in place. The three centers will be open from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. each day through Wednesday, city officials said.

The cooling centers are located at Camden Community Center, 3369 Union Ave., Emma Prusch Farm Park, 647 S. King Road and Roosevelt Community Center, 901 East Santa Clara St.

The Roosevelt Community Center is pet-friendly, welcoming both dogs and cats. Leashes or crates are required for all pets.

All San Jose community centers and libraries are open during regular business hours to help residents cool down, officials said, but these three locations' hours were extended in response to the excessive heat warning.
