California police have revealed that a three-year-old whose body was found at a recycling plant was killed by her father before he died of suicide.

San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a report of a suspicious circumstance at a recycling facility located in the 600 block of Charles Street, a press release said.

An employee called the police to report finding a possibly deceased female in the processing area of the facility. A search for missing Ellie Obi Lorenzo was being conducted by the Fremont Police Department at the time.

The Santa Clara County Coroner's Office positively identified the victim as Ellie on July 15. Police have since identified Jared Lorenzo as the man who killed his three-year-old daughter.

Ellie was last seen with her father at a home in Fremont on the evening of July 11. She was reported missing by her mother the following day.

Lorenzo left his Fremont apartment just after 6 on July 12, police said. He drove to the city of San José where he removed Ellie's body from the trunk of his vehicle and disposed of her in a trash receptacle.

It was later emptied by the garbage company and unknowingly transferred to the Charles Street facility, police said in a press release. "Further police evidence suggests that suspect Lorenzo drove to multiple neighboring Bay Area cities and finally stopped in the city of San Francisco , where he was found deceased shortly after 11," they said.
