The San Jose Sharks and Barracuda announced the signing of former Ottawa Senators 2015 first-round pick Colin White to an AHL contract.

White has played 320 NHL games for the Senators, Pittsburgh Penguins, and, most recently, the Montreal Canadiens. He has 44 goals and 69 assists in his NHL career.

"Colin brings a wealth of NHL and AHL experience to the Barracuda," 'Cuda GM Joe Will said in a statement. "He will provide center depth and we're excited for him to join our team."

Despite being picked 21st overall in 2015, White could never find a footing in the NHL. Whether he's dealt with injuries or lack of consistent offense, White's career most games played in the NHL is 71. He hasn't reached the 70-game mark since he did so in 18-19.

That season was his most successful, scoring 14 goals and 27 assists. However, he never found that offensive touch again.

White played 28 games in the NHL last season and did not register a point. In 21 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the AHL last season, White scored five goals and five assists. He was also an alternate captain.

White will provide veteran leadership for a young Barracuda team. Head Coach John McCarthy told reporters he wanted to make the AHL Playoffs last season. This move should give the 'Cuda a better chance at achieving that goal this season.
