Due to New York Islanders team rules, former San Jose Sharks forward Anthony Duclair has cut his hair and shaved his beard.

Duclair took to social media and posted a picture of his hair on a counter, signifying that his hair will be within the limits set by Islanders GM Lou Lamoriello. This rule applies only during the regular season, should the Islanders make the postseason.

Lamoriello has enforced this rule during his stops with the NHL's New Jersey Devils and Toronto Maple Leafs.

Former Devils forward Kyle Palmieri was forced to do the same after he was traded to the Islanders in 2021.

This rule is similar to one that the New York Yankees have in the MLB. The Yankees have a strict hair policy as well. Since 1976, Yankees players' hair must not touch their collar. Players can have a mustache, but no other facial hair is allowed.

Lamoriello enforces more rules, such as no jewelry, suit jackets, and ties must be worn to games and on the team bus and plane rides.

Duclair signed a four-year contract with the Islanders this summer, joining his former junior coach, Patrick Roy. As long as he is with the Islanders or Lamoriello is still the GM, Duclair must maintain his clean-shaven, short-hair look.
