Deaths from car crashes jumped in California between 2018 and 2022, with several of those traffic fatalities occurring in the Southland, according to a recent report.ConsumerAffairs found fatal car crashes rose by 17% during that four-year span, despite a population decline in the state.Researchers looked at data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to understand where deadly crashes happen and their contributing factors.Interstate 5, which runs through California, was the state's deadliest road in 2022. The Mission Viejo Activities Committee is gearing up for its annual 4th of July Street Faire & Fireworks Spectacular on Olympiad between Marguerite and Melinda. Green Line Trolley Resumes for Summer 2024
At its June 18, 2024 meeting, the City Council of San Clemente authorized funding for the continuation of the Green Line Trolley to operate daily in July, August, and September during the same hours as the Blue Line and the Red Line. The Blue Line is the northernmost route, connecting the Outlets at San Clemente to a shared stop with the Dana Point Trolley on Camino Mira Costa; the Red Line is the “downtown” route, connecting the Outlets at San Clemente to the Pier; and the Green Line is the southern route, connecting the Pier to San Clemente State Beach and campground. The City is excited to offer this continued service to provide more transportation options and easier access to shopping and recreation during the busiest season of the year.

I’ve been watching City Council meetings for a long time. Chris Duncan has represented us well as a San Clemente City Councilmember and mayor and is respectful of his council colleagues. Tony Rubolino and Laura Ferguson write about things having nothing to do with city business. Rubolino also shows up during the second public comment period of City Council meetings and shows photos he’s taken of Duncan in his personal private life. I remember well the tension and ill will demonstrated by the former City Council, sometimes embarrassing.
