Scout: Texas’ Quinn Ewers Could Sneak Into 2025 NFL Draft’s QB1 Conversation

Unlike the 2024 NFL Draft, there’s no clear-cut No. 1-ranked quarterback prospect in the 2025 draft class.

Considered to be a three-man race between Georgia’s Carson Beck, Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders and Texas’ Quinn Ewers, a case could be made for all three to be the first QB picked in next year’s draft.

One NFL scout believes that Ewers, who’s considered the longest shot of the three to be picked first, has the best chance to solidify himself as the top signal-caller in the 2025 draft.

“Ewers has the best chance to break away from the pack because of the offense he's in and how well he's played,” an AFC college scouting director told ESPN’s Matt Miller . “But he has to cut down on the bonehead plays he makes a few times a game.”

“Scouts rave about [Ewers’] tools and accuracy, especially since he's only 21 years old,” Miller added.

Ewers took a significant step forward in his development last season.

He completed 69% of his passes for 3,479 yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions while leading the Longhorns to a 10-2 record, an upset win over then-No. 3-ranked Alabama and an appearance in the College Football Playoff.

Had he declared for the 2024 draft, Ewers was projected to be a Day 2 pick, but with another strong season and a deep CFP run, Ewers could work himself into top-10-pick territory.
