Coliseum’s New Life Advances
On June 12, the Oakland City Council unanimously approved an initial agreement with the African American Sports & Entertainment Group to purchase the city’s 50% share of the Coliseum property for $105 million. This clears the way for development rights of the city’s largest public land site to an Oakland-based, African American development group—a first in the city’s 170-year history.

A Lugnuts team record 12-run, seventh inning broke open a close game as the 65+ Arizona Lugnuts ransacked the Arizona Rangers by a final of 16-5 Sunday at Mountain View High. The game was a seesaw battle through the first six innings. The Rangers grabbed an early 2-0 lead. The Lugnuts then tied the score with runs in the second and third innings. Another back and forth and it was 5-4 Rangers after six innings. Then, it was all Lugnuts as the offense put up an even dozen in the top of the seventh as 17 players came to bat.

Cobb Earns Academic All-America Selection
STANFORD, Calif. – Graduate student Owen Cobb has been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America second team, it was announced on Tuesday. Including Cobb, five members of this year’s Academic All-America® Division I baseball team are earning a recognition for the second time. Jesse Barker (University of Central Arkansas) is the only player on this year’s first team to also be a first team honoree in 2023. Cobb repeats as a second team selection, previously earning the honor in 2023. Ryan Campos (Arizona State), Slade Wilks (Southern Mississippi), and Travis Bazzana (Oregon State) are on the first team this year after earning third team honors in 2023.
