DRUNK WOMAN DROVE INTO OFFICER DIRECTING TRAFFIC, COPS SAY [HN VIDEO]
HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS – In the following HN Video you’ll hear a Barnstable Police Officer suddenly come over the radio saying he was just hit by a white SUV. It was around 10:40 p.m. last evening, and the officer was directing traffic leaving the “Dark Star Orchestra” concert at the Cape Cod Melody Tent. The Dark Star Orchestra is a tribute band that prides itself on “celebrating the Grateful Dead concert experience,” according to Wikipedia. At the end of the concert, the veteran police officer was directing Melody Tent traffic exiting onto Scudder Ave. He was wearing a high-vis, reflective traffic vest with lettering spelling out “BARNSTABLE POLICE.” He was also reportedly holding a special flashlight for directing traffic at night. The white SUV reportedly struck the officer in his left knee. The SUV also reportedly hit the officer’s flashlight before continuing westbound on Scudder Ave. Part of the broken flashlight was photographed on the side of Scudder Ave. HN spoke with the officer and he seemed a little shook up from being hit, and he appeared to be limping a little bit. During the investigation, the banged-up policeman could be heard telling investigating officers he didn’t need rescue.
