Herb’s Bait and Tackle mingles history and modern convenience
When Herb’s Bait and Tackle reopened early this year, it was still in the transitional stage that allowed it to serve its customers without the wow factor the new owners were planning. Now that renovations are complete, customers walking into Herb’s may feel like they are reliving their first viewing of “The Wizard of Oz” when the movie unexpectedly transitions from black and white to full color.

Everyone knows how good the specialty seafood offerings are at The Boardwalk. All know to visit Hooligans for superb Irish grub. There’s no lack of favoritism for Frosty’s pizza. Who doesn’t love the waterfront at The Keys? And its all-go for breakfast bagels at Topsy’s, but what about a good ol’ heaping platter of delightful fresh Perch?
Pool Hours: Fourth of July Week
From July 3-6, 2024, the Grindley Aquatic & Wellness Campus Pool will be open in shifts to allow for more guests to access the pool, weather permitting. Individuals and families will be dismissed after each shift for cleaning and restaffing. There will be no rest breaks to allow for maximum swimming. If pool capacity is reached during any shift, the Pool Staff will permit guests to enter as individuals and families leave the pool. Thank you for your cooperation. View hours of operation:
“Island in the Sun” Video a Great Island-Monday Kick-Starter
Bob Gatewood’s latest album, “Friends of the Bay,” has an accompanying music video for the popular song, “Island in the Sun.” The video, recorded at Put-in-Bay on 23 September 2023, was directed by Moe Taylor. In his public release, Bob says, “It’s starring a lot of Put-in-Bay island goers having fun, maybe even you!”

In 2022, musician and songwriter Ron Miller asked videographer Shay Rickard to collaborate on a distinctive promotional project for Port Clinton. The result, a video called, “Port Clinton’s Calling Me,” brought Port Clinton to the world stage. Now, the pair have teamed up for their most recent video, “Another Marblehead Morning,” which highlights the slow lake life unique to Marblehead, from its distinctive businesses and restaurants, local parks and scenery, and, of course, the Marblehead Lighthouse.
