The merger of Cedar Fair and Six Flags is complete.

The Millennium Force roller coaster is still climbing up 310 feet to take riders on a crazy 92 miles per hour ride.

And Snoopy and the Peanuts gang are still calling Cedar Point home.

It's pretty much business as usual − as far as guests know − at the Sandusky amusement park along the shore of Lake Erie that is home to what many regard as the best collection of roller coasters in the world.

The merger between the once rival amusement park operators closed Monday afternoon.

There will be some behind-the-scenes changes. The corporate headquarters for the newly combined company that will be known as Six Flags Entertainment Corporation will move to Charlotte, North Carolina, where Cedar Fair's Carowinds Park is located.

Six Flags will close its headquarters in Texas, but the new company plans to keep some of its finance and administrative functions in Sandusky where Cedar Fair had its headquarters.

Cedar Fair President and CEO Richard Zimmerman will head the new company while Six Flags President and CEO Selim Bassoul will assume the role of executive chairman for its board of directors.

Will Cedar Point and Kings Island change their names?

Cedar Fair had two parks in Ohio − Cedar Point and Kings Island − that will now be part of a chain of dozens of amusement parks and waterparks throughout the country.

The newly formed company has announced that it intends to keep the existing names on all of its parks.

"Each park in the combined company’s portfolio will retain their legacy branding with no changes to park names currently being planned or contemplated," the company said.

There are no planned changes to park schedules or offerings.

"Ultimately, we expect this combination will enable us to deliver even more engaging and entertaining experiences to guests," the company said.

What does the merger mean for Cedar Fair and Six Flags tickets and season passes?

All existing season passes and tickets will be honored at the combined company's various parks.

"We do not anticipate any immediate changes to our pricing, ticket options or season passes as a result of completing this merger," the company said. "However, during the season we do adjust pricing based on volume and demand in each of our markets."

For the remainder of this season, season passes will only be honored at the parks they were purchased from.

So Cedar Fair season passes will only be good at Cedar Fair parks and the same goes for Six Flags season passes.

The same goes for season drink, food and front-of-the-line season passes.

"It’s clear our guests see tremendous value in the season-pass programs," the combined company said. "There are no plans to offer a new season pass with access to all parks in 2024. However, we believe there may be an opportunity in the future to offer expanded park access to season pass holders. Please check your home park's website for updates on season pass product offerings and all park access options."

What states have Six Flags amusement parks?

There are 11 states with Six Flags parks and resort properties. Six Flags also has parks in Montreal and Mexico City.

Where are the Cedar Fair locations in the U.S.?

There are nine states with Cedar Fair parks. There’s also a park in the Toronto area.
