Sandusky driver, 2 passengers killed in Seneca County crash: OSHP

SCIPIO TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating after a Sandusky driver and two passengers were killed in a Seneca County crash Thursday morning.

The crash happened just before 11 a.m. on State Route 18 at County Road 24 in Scipio Township.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a Ram Promaster was heading west on County Road 24 when it failed to stop at a stop sign, hitting a Ford F-250 heading northeast.

Investigators say a Freightliner semi tractor-trailer heading southwest then hit the Ford and Ram. The Freightliner and Ford went off the side of the intersection and both vehicles flipped over.

The Freightliner crashed into a utility pole and the Ford caught fire, according to OSHP.

The Ford driver, 41-year-old Joseph Miller, and two passengers, 67-year-old Richard Miller of Sandusky and 13-year-old Conner Miller of Vickery, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Ram driver, a 57-year-old Jenera man, was flown to Mercy Health – St. Vincent Medical Center with serious injuries.

The Freightliner driver, a 42-year-old man from Tampa, Florida, was taken to Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital. He was also seriously injured.

The fatal crash remains under investigation at this time.
