52 Apartments Planned For Rogers Park Lot, But Some Say That’s Too Much
ROGERS PARK — A six-story apartment building could be coming to a vacant Rogers Park lot, but some neighbors say the plan is too dense and doesn’t have enough parking. Developer 5035 Land Owner, LLC is asking Ald. Maria Hadden (49th) for a zoning change to move forward with building 52 apartments at 7728 N. Sheridan Road. There wouldn’t be any retail space included in the project.
Maisha Handy Named President of the McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago
Maisha I. Handy has been named the twelfth president of McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. She will assume her new role on September 3, making her the institution’s first African American and second woman president. McCormick Theological Seminary enrolls roughly 160 graduate students, 40 percent of whom are women.
Rangers' Jon Gray: Spins gem against White Sox
Gray (5-4) picked up the win Tuesday against the White Sox, allowing one run on four hits and no walks across 7.2 innings. He struck out five. Gray finished off Tuesday's start retiring 15 consecutive batters and despite pitching into the eighth had thrown 80 pitches before being pulled. The outing marked Gray's first time exceeding six innings pitched since May 15. While he hasn't been a great source of strikeouts, having 78 Ks in 94.0 innings, the veteran lefty has been a reliable option, owning a 3.73 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP. He's on track to close out a two-start week Sunday in Toronto.
