Utah's Straw Test Crackdown
Utah is known for many things—beautiful mountains, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mitt Romney—but it truly distinguishes itself when it comes to notoriously ridiculous alcohol laws. While the state's so-called "Zion Curtain" has widely been considered one of the dumbest booze rules in America, it turns out there is no limit on inane drinks laws in the Beehive State. In fact, state regulators have recently upped their bureaucratic ante by cracking down on bartenders who use a "straw test" to sample cocktails before serving.
Utah Hikers Confused by Missing Lake
Usually, when you set out on a trail called Twin Lakes Trail, you expect a pair of lakes. However, some hikers in Utah didn’t find a pair of lakes at the end of their trail; they found a drained reservoir instead. Though confusing and disappointing for hikers who didn’t know what was going on, there’s a perfectly reasonable explanation for the missing Utah lake.
Nellis Air Force Base to Bring the Noise to Southern Utah in the Coming Weeks
Imagine this, you’re doom scrolling on social media, and you keep reading posts from your friends and family that say, “What’s that booming noise outside?”. Sounds pretty familiar right? It’s nice to know about unknown events before they happen so you can rub it into the face of your loved ones with an all-knowing index finger pointing skyward.
Governors urged not to ‘tear down’ bipartisan leadership group
It’s been a year since Utah Gov. Spencer Cox was elected as chairman of the National Governors Association and launched his “Disagree Better” campaign. At the time, Politico columnist Jonathan Martin pointed out that the NGA, which he described as a “once-vital forum for common ground,” had appeared to have “fallen prey to polarization,” noting […] The post Governors urged not to ‘tear down’ bipartisan leadership group appeared first on Colorado Newsline.
Be a Little Bit Naughty at Lehi Art’s MATILDA
LEHI — Growing up, the books of Roald Dahl and the imagination behind them were very important in my household. Making a drive to Lehi to see Matilda the Musical at the Lehi Arts Council in Friday traffic may seem a bit crazy for a Northern Utahn, but since this is the year anniversary of my mother’s death and I have vivid memories of her reading the book to me, I take any opportunity I can to see the musical with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and a book by Dennis Kelly. The story follows young, brilliant Matilda, played the night I saw the show by Alicia Wright, as she struggles with the trauma of parents who do not love her, a principal who mistreats her, and powers that she cannot understand.

BLUFFDALE — A 10-year-old girl was transported by medical helicopter in critical condition Sunday after two cars collided at an intersection. The accident happened at the intersection of Porter Rockwell Boulevard and Redwood Road, according to Anne Elise Harrison with the Saratoga Springs Police Department. A car was going north on Redwood Road and passing through an intersection with a green light when a different car going east on Porter Rockwell Boulevard ran a red light and hit the first vehicle, Harrison said.
