Greetings. Here is the latest dispatch from your Coast Star Connection - a recap of a week that, for one of our Coast Star communities, brought a heartbreaking tragedy.
Sanford mourns loss of brothers
The community of Sanford-Springvale is in mourning this week and is rallying to help the family of Tavayne Weir and Diandre Graham, the two teenage stepbrothers who died by apparent drowning while swimming at Holdsworth Park in Springvale on the night of Sunday, July 7.
New Skipper at Fisherman's Catch
On Wednesday, July 10, longtime owners Ned and Amy Cardinali officially sold Fisherman's Catch, their Harbor Road seafood restaurant in Wells. In an interview earlier this week, Ned Cardinali looked back on his family's two decades at the helm of a popular and beloved eatery.
Have You Seen Duckie?
Have you seen a parrot flying around anywhere since last Saturday? Chances are, that could be Duckie, whose owner, Sabrina Doyle, reported her missing that afternoon. Doyle said she is heartbroken and hoping for Duckie's safe return.
Glamping, Wes Anderson-style
If you’re a fan of quirky filmmaker Wes Anderson, then you’ll be able to look at any one of the new “Whimsical Retreats” at Sandy Pines Campground in Kennebunkport and guess which of his movies inspired it. The campground is adding nine new park models designed after the distinct visual styles of the celebrated movie director. Four of them are finished, with the remaining ones on tap to debut this summer.
New Top Cop in Kennebunkport
Six years after retiring from the field, Chris Simeoni officially returned to full-time law enforcement on Monday, July 1, this time as the chief of the Kennebunkport Police Department.
