    Another rainy day spoils Spinners weekend

    The Sanford Spinners are probably about ready to sing that old nursery rhyme: Rain, rain, go away! Come again some other day!

    The second half of the Old North State League season has been plagued with the evening thunderstorms characteristic of the Dog Days of summer in eastern North Carolina. But this has been unusual even by those standards. In the last 10 days through Saturday, three Spinners games were postponed, one of them twice, and then Sunday’s scheduled game with the Oak City Gliders, a non-divisional game, was outright cancelled due to the need to get in Southeastern Division games to determine the second-half winner of the split season.
