Texas Tech set to follow through on '27 game at UNT, hopes to 'turn Denton, Texas, into Red Raider country'
North Texas officials have vowed for years that the school would bring a host of high-profile opponents to DATCU Stadium. UNT appears closer than ever to fulfilling that pledge after Texas Tech athletic director Kirby Hocutt detailed the Red Raiders’ plans for a two-game series that is set to begin when the Mean Green play at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock on Sept. 14. Hocutt and Texas Tech coach Joey McGuire acknowledged earlier this year that the program was considering paying a buyout to UNT to avoid playing the return game in Denton in 2027.
