Lady Comets heading to national softball tournament
UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — A local youth softball team is setting out in search of some national hardware in Maryland. The Utica Lady Comets — a youth softball organization consisting of players from all over Central New York — has qualified their 14-and-under team, coached by Kathy Wilmot, for the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) Eastern National Championships in Ocean City, Maryland. This summer, the Lady Comets have compiled a 28-5 record while traveling all over New York State.

Oneida Nation to Host Four World Lacrosse Box Championship Games
UTICA, N.Y. — World Lacrosse today announced that Turning Stone Resort Casino has joined the upcoming 2024 World Lacrosse Box Championships as an Official Event Partner. As part of the partnership, the Mary C. Winder Community Center – Oneida Indian Nation’s new 90,000-square-foot community center – will host four games of the historic double world championship, which will feature the best men’s and women’s lacrosse athletes from around the globe. In addition, Turning Stone’s Exit 33 entertainment destination will be the site of the official post-championship celebration.

UTICA — The streak continues for the Boilermaker Road Race perennial runners. A group of seven with ties to the Utica-Rome metro area have participated in every Boilermaker Road Race in Utica since the event started with a small field in 1976.

Utica University Pioneers to compete in first-ever NCAA Division III women's ice hockey tournament in Florida this Thanksgiving
The Utica University women's ice hockey team will join three other teams in Wesley Chapel, Florida for the first Sunshine Hockey Classic on November 29 & 30. It will be the first time NCAA Division III women's ice hockey is played in the state of Florida, and will include Norwich University, Trinity College, and Adrian College. Swimming & Diving Named CSCAA Scholar All-America
HAMILTON – The Colgate University men's and women's swimming and diving teams have been recognized as Scholar All-America Teams by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), the organization announced Monday. To qualify for this prestigious recognition, teams had to earn a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 during the spring 2024 semester. The women's team posted a 3.61 spring GPA, the fifth-best mark among its Patriot League peers. The men's team earned a 3.44 spring GPA, ranking fourth in the Patriot League. Defense dominates in River Hawks’ win
OSWEGO – In a contest where defense was the name of the game, the Oswego River Hawks edged the hometown Utica Yeti 9-6 on Friday night at the Nexus Center. The win brought Oswego’s divisional record to 3-1, while the Yeti dropped to 1-4. The Yeti jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first quarter, but Pavel Srch put Oswego on the board on an assist from Dylan Smith with just over four minutes remaining in the first frame.
