Elderly Woman Struck By Gunfire In Newhall Fourth Of July Shooting

An elderly woman was one of two victims of a shooting in Newhall on the Fourth of July.

Around 11 p.m. Thursday, deputies received reports of gunshots on the 25000 block of Walnut Street in Newhall, said Sgt. Clark, with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station .

“The informant heard gunshots in front of the complex,” Clark said.

Immediately after hearing the gunfire, people were seen running from the area, and a vehicle took off at a high rate of speed, according to Clark.

“An elderly woman was struck and another person in their 20s was struck,” Clark said.

Both patients were brought to the hospital via private auto, according to Clark.

A vehicle on Walnut Street also was struck by the gunfire.

As of Friday morning, no arrests have been made, according to Sheriff’s officials.
