Update: All fire resources were canceled and crews were cleaning up the scene as of 2:38 p.m., according to the City of Santa Clarita . There was no immediate word as to whether evacuation orders had been lifted.

A rapidly spreading vegetation fire triggered evacuations near Santa Clarita Sunday.

The blaze was first reported around 1:30 p.m. Sunday near Trumpet Drive and Valle Del Oro, located west of the 14 Freeway.

According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the flames began spreading quickly and immediately began threatening nearby structures.

Further information released by the City of Santa Clarita indicated that the brush fire – which grew to two acres by 1:50 p.m. — was in “medium fuels.”

The area of Trumpet Drive and Valle Del Oro was under an evacuation order, authorities told KTLA shortly after 2 p.m.

Luis Zuñiga contributed to this report.
