    Santa Rosa teen with outstanding warrant arrested on new gun charges

    ( KRON ) — A 16-year-old who police said was a known gang member with an outstanding warrant was chased on foot and arrested on Thursday, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department. Officers located a loaded, concealed handgun on the teen during the arrest, police said.

    Just before 5 p.m., Santa Rosa police officers were on patrol at the 1200 block of Cleveland Avenue near College Avenue and Highway 101. Officers came upon a child who was known to police to have an outstanding arrest warrant, SRPD said. The 16-year-old fled from officers as they tried to make contact, setting off a brief foot chase.

    When Santa Rosa officers apprehended the juvenile, police located a Glock model 17 9 mm handgun with a loaded 17-round magazine, SRPD said. An additional loaded 22-round magazine was also found.

    Police said the handgun was modified to remove its identifying markings.

    The teen was arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall on the charges of carrying a loaded firearm in a public place, minor in possession of a concealed handgun, obliterate identifying firearm markings, resisting arrest, plus the outstanding warrant out of Sonoma County.

    The name of the child was not released due to their age.
