Rising summer temperatures claimed the life of a 30-year-old woman and left her parents in critical condition after a family hike in Utah. On Saturday, July 13, Belyruth Ordóñez and her parents, Dario and Humbelina Ordóñez, embarked on a hike at Snow Canyon State Park. Despite the temperatures soaring above 100 degrees, they ventured out to explore the scenic beauty of the park.

DUTCH JOHN, Utah — Recent wetting rains have significantly reduced the fire intensity of the Speirs Fire, however it continues to burn and is currently 3% contained and is at an approximate size of 759 acres. The fire was caused by lighting on July 13, and is located approximately three miles south of the town of Dutch John, Utah and south of the Flaming Gorge Reservoir.
