Hero Dad Dies in Rip Current Saving Children
(Elk River, MN) — The body of a man who went missing in the Mississippi River near Elk River on Friday has been recovered. Forty-one-year-old Cody Pope’s body was found yesterday morning, according to the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office. According to reports, Pope jumped into the river Friday when his son and daughter began struggling in the current. Pope was able to get both children to safety but went under the water and wasn’t seen again until his body was discovered yesterday.
