SUMMARY: A Kemp's ridley sea turtle named Toast Malone, one of the world's most endangered species, had its third successful procedure at Mississippi State University's College of Veterinary Medicine (MSU CVM), where a fishhook was removed from its stomach via endoscopy. Another loggerhead sea turtle, Mudpie, also had fishhooks removed successfully by Dr. John Thomason and his team. These efforts, part of the Global Center for Aquatic Health and Food Security, provide essential rehabilitation and hands-on experience for veterinary students. Both turtles are undergoing further rehabilitation before potential release to ensure they can survive in the wild.

Mississippi schools to share nearly $240 million more in education funding this fiscal year
