MATAGORDA COUNTY, Texas - Matagorda County has announced a voluntary evacuation for its coastal regions on Friday. The notice is effective immediately and includes the areas of Sargent, Matagorda, and the waterfront of the City of Palacios. The voluntary evacuation decision follows the Hurricane and Storm Surge Watch issued from the mouth of the Rio Grande to Sargent, Texas.
Local closures for 4th of July
Independence Day falls on Thursday, July 4, this year. Local closures include the Bay City Public Library, and city and county offices. Bay City Parks and Recreation Department’s annual “Freedom Fireworks” will be 6-9:30 p.m. Thursday, July 4, in Le Tulle Park, 1135 SH 35 South just outside of Bay City.
