Drowning is the leading cause of unintentional injury death for ages 1 to 4 with 87% of fatalities in home pools or hot tubs, the third leading cause for ages 5 to 9 with 129 deaths annually, accounting for 11% of deaths for ages 10 to 14 with 106 deaths annually, and the third leading cause for ages 15 to 19 with 259 deaths annually. To raise awareness and promote swimming safety, Osceola County Commissioner Ricky Booth is collaborating with Osceola County Fire Rescue & EMS, led by Division Chief John Murphy, and the City of St. Cloud.

The Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) announces the search for the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Commissioner for a multi-year term beginning with the 2024-25 academic year. The WCHA seeks a dynamic leader who will provide vision and strategic direction to its membership and advance the sport of women’s hockey within our region and nationally. The commissioner oversees and manages all facets of the league and ensures the efficient and fiscally sound administration of all activities while working to provide an exceptional student athlete experience.
CARE annual golf tournament a success
CARE (Community Action Respecting Elders) hosted their annual golf fundraiser June 6 at Stone Creek Golf Course in Foley. Many local businesses were generous sponsors and donors for the golf tournament. CARE has a goal of supporting area residents age 60 and older to continue living independently in the homes of their choice. The vision of CARE is to help the aging members of the community live longer, happier and more meaningful lives. CARE is grateful for community volunteers who help them accomplish this goal.
Duluth Huskies outlast St. Cloud Rox in defensive duel
