The widow of the man tragically killed at a Donald Trump campaign rally has disclosed his devastating last words before his untimely demise. Corey Comperatore, a volunteer firefighter and father-of-two, was the victim who lost his life during an assassination attempt on the former President.

The 50-year-old was attending the rally when he bravely used his body to protect his family from the gunfire, ultimately sacrificing himself. Helen, Corey's grieving widow, has courageously shared the final words her husband uttered as he put his life on the line for his family.

In an emotional interview from her Sarver, Pennsylvania home with The New York Post on Monday, she said: "He's my hero. He just said, 'Get down! ' That was the last thing he said."

Additionally, Helen disclosed that President Joe Biden personally reached out to offer his sympathies over the phone, but she declined the conversation. She told the publication: "I didn't talk to Biden. I didn't want to talk to him. My husband was a devout Republican and he would not have wanted me to talk to him."

She also confirmed that they have received no communication from Trump , reports the Mirror . During the chat , Helen delved into her love story with Corey, a tale that started when they were just children. The couple who are vocal Trump supporters were soon to mark their 29th wedding anniversary.

To hear Trump's campaign message, they embarked on a family trip to his Pennsylvania rally. As she responded: "Me and the kids were all there as a family. He was just excited. It was going to be a nice day with the family."

She further commented: "It was a bad day. He was a very loving husband. He was a simple man but he put his wife and kids first all the time. I did nothing here. I didn't lift a finger. He did everything."

During the rally, Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old attacker, opened fire on the crowd with bullets, fatally wounding Corey and leaving two others injured. After Corey faced a deadly bullet, a doctor present in the crowd promptly tried to offer CPR in an attempt to resuscitate him.

Recollecting the dreadful incident as he saw Corey's blood-soaked attire, Doctor Jake Rosen explained: "I heard the shots. I thought it was firecrackers to begin with. Somebody over there was screaming, 'he's been shot, he's been shot.' So, I made my way over. I said I'm an emergency department physician. Let me help you," and added: "There's lots of blood and he had brain matter."

Following the terrible loss, Helen is surrounded by an outpouring of love and support to commemorate her husband. Corey's family promptly set up a GoFundMe in his memory, already securing a staggering $990,000.

Overwhelmed by the country's generosity, Helen said: "The donations that are coming in across the community and across the country, it's more than I can even imagine. It's more than I can fathom, but he deserves it all. He deserves everything."
