Chris Boswell’s training camp struggles flashes back to Steelers 2018 season
Training camp has gotten off to a rocky start for Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Chris Boswell. The normally accurate Boswell has missed four field goals so far at camp, all of which were in the very makable range. It’s still early and there’s no reason to panic in July. But Boswell’s missing kicks do make us think back to that dreadful 2018 season where nothing went right for Boswell and he was a huge liability to the team. In 2018, Boswell struggled through 15 games and despite his struggles, the team stuck with him. Boswell had a career-low 65 percent on field goal tries and went 5-for-10 from 40-49 yards. Meanwhile, backup Matthew Wright has been perfect in training camp. This is Wright’s third stint on the Steelers. He appeared in three games in 2020, going 4-for-4 on field goals. Wright then returned in 2022 and handled the kicking duties in four games. He went 12-for-14 on field goals including one over 50 yards. Yasmani Grandal’s role challenged by Paul Skenes: Impact on Pittsburgh Pirates lineup
The Pittsburgh Pirates signed Yasmani Grandal but his performance has been poor, batting .182 with subpar defensive stats. Despite better options like Joey Bart and Jason Delay, they kept Grandal, possibly due to pitcher Paul Skenes. Skenes has excelled with Grandal catching, possibly prolonging Grandal's stay. However, the time has come for Skenes to work with other catchers, especially as the deadline approaches.

Steelers veteran believes undrafted rookie is 'going to be a great player'
It's not often that an undrafted rookie makes enough of an impression to earn reps with the first-team defense to start training camp, but that's exactly what is happening in Pittsburgh.Undrafted rookie cornerback Beanie Bishop has been one of the biggest stars of Steelers training camp thus far, flashing his coverage ability over the first two days. My thoughts on Day 2 of #Steelers training camp. Pirates make their first move at the MLB trade deadline
The Pittsburgh Pirates kicked off their MLB trade deadline with a minor league trade by sending outfielder Gilberto Celestino to the Chicago Cubs for cash considerations. Celestino was acquired by the Pirates last offseason from the Minnesota Twins. He had a solid spring training, but was ultimately optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis. He has spent the season playing all three outfield positions and has been a decent hitter at the plate.
Return for Diontae Johnson on ‘hot seat’ with training camp underway
Cornerback became a positional need for the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason, as both Levi Wallace and Patrick Peterson left in free agency. Unfortunately, it came at the expense of Pittsburgh’s most productive offensive player, wide receiver Diontae Johnson. The Steelers sent Johnson and their No. 240 pick to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for cornerback Donte Jackson and No. 178 pick (defensive lineman Logan Lee). TribLive’s Joe Rutter believes that Jackson is at risk of losing his job. He laid out five players on the hot seat at training camp. At the top is everybody’s favorite defensive end, Cameron Heyward. Here’s what Rutter had...
