FILLMORE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The driver of a vehicle died and four passengers, including three children, were taken to the hospital after a crash near Saugatuck.

Around 1 p.m. Sunday, a sedan was headed west on 136th Avenue and did not stop at the 58th Street stop sign in Fillmore Township, according to the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office. It was hit by a pickup truck headed north on 58th Street.

The pickup truck had the right-of-way, deputies said, because traffic on 58th Street does not have a stop sign.

The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene. The other four passengers, including three children, were taken to hospitals with injuries that were serious and life-threatening, deputies said.

The driver of the pickup was not injured, according to deputies.

The road was closed following the crash but has since reopened. The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating.
