AMSTERDAM, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — The Amsterdam Mohawks struck early and often in their 11-5 win over the Saugerties Stallions Thursday night.

Heading into the game, the Stallions were two games behind the Mohawks for first place in the East Division. A win would have inched them closer to the top spot, but the Mohawks’ offense brought those aspirations to a halt.

After Amsterdam scored two runs in the opening frame, Saugerties responded with two runs in the top of the second inning to level the score. But then the hometown ‘Hawks plated three runs in the second, two in the third and three in the fourth to build a comfortable, eight-run lead.

Javar Williams and Evan Haeger registered two hits and two runs apiece. Cade Ladehoff, and and Jimmy Dione both had two RBI.

The Mohawks will host the Albany Baseball Club Friday for a doubleheader at 5:00 and 6:30 p.m.
