Longstanding Saugus Restaurant Seeks New Site Amid Lease Dispute

A beloved Saugus Chinese restaurant is on the hunt for a new location.

According to a post on the Boston’s Wicked North Shore Facebook page, Dragon Island II will soon close its original location at 44 Hamilton St due to an ongoing dispute with its current landlord.

“The problems are not getting any better and it has forced ownership to start looking for a new location to move to in Saugus,” reads the post. “That has proved difficult, as suitable locations are not easy to find. Dragon Island is now considering the possibility of searching for a new location in neighboring communities… They do not want to move but they have few options.”

Dragon Island II has been serving customers since at least 2013, according to Yelp reviews. Owner Albert Lau and his family have been integral to the local dining scene since its opening, offering classic Chinese fare such as chop suey, fried rice, and lo mein.
