    Love Street shooting suspect in custody after SWAT standoff

    SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – A suspect accused in a shooting on Love Street is now in custody after a standoff with the Savannah Police Department (SPD) and SWAT.

    The shooting, which happened at the 1300 block of Love Street on Sunday, left one man injured.

    Later in the day, SPD and SWAT closed down a portion of the 1200 block of Love Street to negotiate with Raymond Washington, 24, who they say is responsible for the shooting.

    Police said Washington was armed and held a 4-year-old child hostage before safely releasing the child.

    Around 7:30 p.m., police said Washington was in custody and was unharmed. He faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault x5, false imprisonment and cruelty to children.

    A second suspect in the Love Street shooting, 21-year-old Antwon Fields, was also arrested. He faces charges of tampering with evidence and obstruction.

    SPD said additional charges may be forthcoming.

    Meanwhile, the shooting victim was released from the hospital after treatment.
