SAYREVILLE, NJ -- Dates for the trial of 52-year-old Bruce A. Cymanski of Barnegat, NJ, who was arrested in 2021 for the 1999 murder of 17-year-old Sayreville resident Nancy Noga, have been set.
Nancy Noga was a high school senior reported missing after she did not return home from work on Jan. 7, 1999. Her body was discovered five days later, on Jan.12, in a wooded area behind what was then Mini-Mall Plaza Shopping Center on Ernston Road in Sayreville. An autopsy later determined that she died from blunt force trauma to the head. The police report said that the teenager was beated with a tree limb.
This case remained open and active for more than two decades as investigators continued working to solve Noga’s death. More than two decades later, the suspect was arrested on Aug. 31, 2021, in connection with the murder. Cymanski, a former South Amboy and Old Bridge resident, was indicted for first-degree murder, first-degree felony murder, first-degree aggravated sexual assault, first-degree kidnapping, and third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Authorities were able to identify Cymanski by using genetic research conducted by a genetic genealogist from Parabon NanoLabs , which analyzes DNA analysis. The arrest was made possible by a joint investigation conducted by Det. Mark Morris and Sgt. Deon McCall of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, along with Sgt. Daniel Ellmyer of the Sayreville Police Department and retired Detective Sgt. Richard Sloan, formerly of the Sayreville Police.
